String Step privacy policy

String Step is designed as a private, visible safety recorder. A Circle can include audio, precise location, night-out moments, owner-controlled sharing, and transcripts after explicit consent.

Data we collect

We collect account identifiers, support messages, precise location, audio, private Circle content, and transcript data only when needed for app functionality.

Tracking

String Step does not use collected data to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Control

Owners control recording, sharing, transcription consent, retention, and deletion. Deletion is designed to remove Circle details, stored files, sharing links, transcripts, and local cache.

Transcription

Cloud transcription requires explicit opt-in. Audio may be temporarily decrypted for processing, then transcript results use private transcript storage for the owner.
